What Happened in the December 2024 Lands’ End Data Incident?
The lawsuit alleges that in December 2024, cybercriminals targeted Lands’ End’s computer systems and may have accessed files containing personal information. Those files may have included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or passport information and, in limited circumstances, medical information. Lands’ End denies wrongdoing, and the court has not decided who is right. Both sides settled to avoid the costs and risks of a trial.
Who Is Eligible for the Lands’ End Data Incident Settlement?
The Settlement Class is: “All persons residing in the United States whose Private Information was compromised in the Data Incident.”
Excluded are Lands’ End and its directors and officers, governmental entities, the judge in the case, the judge’s immediate family and court staff, and anyone who timely and validly opts out. Enrollment codes for credit monitoring were mailed to Class Members by postcard. If you are unsure whether you are a Class Member, the administrator offers free help at (833) 421-7243 or [email protected].
How Much Is the Lands’ End Settlement Cash Payment? Option A vs. Option B
Cash Payment A: up to $5,000.00 for documented losses. This covers actual, documented out-of-pocket losses tied to the data incident that occurred between December 6, 2024 and October 22, 2026. Covered losses include identity theft or fraud losses, fees for credit reports, credit monitoring, or freezing and unfreezing credit, costs to replace IDs, and postage to contact banks by mail. You must send proof such as bank statements or receipts. Notes you wrote yourself can help explain other proof, but are not enough alone. Expenses already reimbursed by a third party cannot be claimed.
Cash Payment B: expected $60.00 (Alternate Cash). This is a one-time payment, and you do not have to provide any proof or explanation. Because the official materials say the payment is “expected” to be $60.00, treat $60 as an estimate, not a guarantee.
You choose one cash option, as Payment B is offered instead of Payment A. You can also claim the credit monitoring.
What Credit Monitoring Does the Lands’ End Settlement Provide?
All Class Members can claim two years of CyEx Financial Shield Complete, which includes $1 million of financial fraud insurance and monitoring for fraud or identity theft, unauthorized financial transactions and personal information tied to high-risk transactions. If something suspicious happens, you can speak with a fraud resolution agent. Your activation code becomes active only after the settlement becomes final, so enrolling may not be possible until then. If you no longer have your enrollment code, contact the administrator.
