$2M Bestway Spa Pump Class Action Settlement, Did You Buy a Recalled Pump? Here Is How to Claim Up to $75 Before August 17
The Bestway Spa Pump Settlement is a defective product class action where consumers who purchased a Bestway AirJet Spa Pump or HydroJet Spa Pump between May 2021 and May 2024 can receive a cash payment of up to $75.00 by filing a claim before August 17, 2026. Bestway agreed to a settlement fund of $2,000,000 after the pumps were recalled in September 2024 for a fire hazard that caused at least three fires — including one fatality — and left hundreds of thousands of customers with products that could no longer safely be used.

What Is the Bestway Lawsuit About? Armstrong et al. v. Bestway (USA) Inc., Case No. 2:24-cv-02812-DMF
This case is pending in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. Plaintiffs Danielle Harper, Franca Armstrong, and Mandy Islam filed this class action alleging that Bestway violated the implied warranty of merchantability — a core protection under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and state consumer protection laws — by selling spa pumps that were not fit for their ordinary purpose because of a dangerous overheating defect.
Here is what happened: On September 12, 2024, Bestway recalled approximately 866,000 AirJet and HydroJet Spa Pumps in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The CPSC found that the pumps could overheat, causing their plastic housing to ignite and creating a serious fire hazard. By the time the recall was announced, the CPSC had recorded at least three fires linked to the pumps — including a house fire in Kansas City, Missouri in January 2024 that resulted in a fatality — and seven additional incidents under investigation. The pumps were sold under the SaluSpa, Coleman, and Hydro-Force brand names at major retailers including Amazon, Costco, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and QVC, priced between $400 and $790.
Bestway responded to the recall by offering customers a free replacement pump or a partial cash refund — $100 for AirJet pumps and $189 for HydroJet pumps. Plaintiffs argued that remedy was insufficient for the harm caused. Bestway denies all wrongdoing. Both sides agreed to settle to resolve the matter without further litigation. Who Qualifies for the Bestway Spa Pump Settlement?
You may qualify if:
- You purchased a Bestway AirJet Spa Pump or HydroJet Spa Pump in the United States
- Your pump carries one of these model numbers: P05332, P05339, P05711, P05807, P07000, P07001, P05511, P07034, or P07572 (the model number and “Bestway” appear on the label on the side or back of the pump)
- You purchased the pump between May 2021 and May 2024
- You received a cash payment in the Spa Pump Recall (the $100 or $189 refund from Bestway) — OR — you no longer have the pump but can provide valid proof of purchase
You do NOT qualify if:
- You purchased a Bestway spa pump with a different model number not listed above
- You purchased outside the May 2021–May 2024 class period
- You are a judge assigned to this case, or a Bestway officer, director, or affiliated entity
Special rule if you still have the pump: If you still have one of the affected pumps in your possession, you must first participate in the CPSC recall at bestwayusa.com/recall-and-safety before filing a settlement claim. You cannot receive the settlement cash payment without completing the recall step first. Call Bestway at (888) 943-2396 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. ET with questions about the recall.
How Much Can You Get from the Bestway Settlement?
Every eligible settlement class member who files a valid claim by August 17, 2026 can receive up to $75.00 in additional cash compensation on top of whatever they already received in the recall.
The total cash payment fund is capped at $2,000,000. If the combined total of all valid claims plus incentive awards to the named plaintiffs exceeds that cap, each class member’s payment will be reduced on a pro rata basis — meaning everyone gets a proportionally smaller share. If unawarded attorney fees or incentive awards remain after the court ruling, those amounts will also flow back to class members on a pro rata basis.
Beyond cash, all class members who received a replacement pump in the recall automatically receive a one-year extension to the Bestway Limited Warranty for their replacement pump at no cost — no claim filing required. Bestway estimates the total value of these extended warranties across all class members exceeds $8 million. Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a class action lawsuit against Bestway for defective spa pumps?
Yes. Armstrong et al. v. Bestway (USA) Inc., Case No. 2:24-cv-02812-DMF, is pending in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona. It alleges Bestway sold AirJet and HydroJet spa pumps with a dangerous overheating defect that caused fires and violated implied warranty protections under federal and state law.
Do I qualify for the Bestway spa pump settlement if I already got a recall refund?
Yes — and that is exactly who this settlement targets. If you received a cash refund of $100 or $189 from Bestway through the CPSC recall, you are eligible to file a claim for an additional payment of up to $75 under this class action settlement. The settlement is meant to compensate you beyond what the recall alone provided.
What if I still have the recalled Bestway pump at home?
Stop using it immediately. Then register your pump at bestwayusa.com/recall-and-safety to participate in the recall and receive a replacement or refund. After completing the recall process, come back to SpaPumpClassActionSettlement.com to file your settlement claim.
Do I need a lawyer to file a Bestway settlement claim?
No. Settlement Class Counsel — Poulin Willey Anastopoulo, LLC and Smith Krivoshey, PC — represent all class members at no out-of-pocket cost. You can file directly online without hiring a product liability attorney. The court will award attorney fees separately, paid by Bestway.
When will I receive my payment?
Payments will be issued by mailed check or electronic payment after the settlement receives final court approval following the September 18, 2026 hearing. TBD — no specific payment timeline has been announced; allow several months after the hearing depending on whether any appeals are filed.
Will filing a claim release my right to sue Bestway for personal injury?
No. The settlement release expressly excludes personal injury and property damage claims (other than damage to the pump itself). If a fire caused by your recalled Bestway pump injured you or damaged your home, those claims are not released by participating in this settlement. Consult a consumer rights lawyer about your individual circumstances.
What if I no longer have the pump or a receipt?
You may still be able to file if you have other documentation showing you purchased one of the affected models — such as an email order confirmation, credit card statement, or retailer purchase history. Contact the settlement administrator at (833) 386-6517 to discuss your specific situation.
How do I know if my pump model is included in the recall?
The nine recalled model numbers are: P05332, P05339, P05711, P05807, P07000, P07001, P05511, P07034, and P07572. The model number is printed on the label on the side or back of the pump unit, alongside the word “Bestway.” You can also verify your model at bestwayusa.com/recall-and-safety.
